Last night I could not sleep

I thought about what you said to me
How memories are hollow seeds
Planting paper window dreams

ASHLEY, COMMANDING OFFICER.
I must say that I've had a good week back at work post vacation. Like I keep telling my coworkers, it feels like I've hit the reset button and have a renewed love for my job and for people in general. As a nurse (in case you forgot I actually AM a nurse by trade) you can find yourself caught up in the bad, the sick, the broken and the stress. Sometimes, though unfortunately, it becomes what defines you as a nurse and person if you let it go too far. It's so important to get a break from life, from work (no matter how much you enjoy it) and from yourself if the situation calls for it.

I've found more joy in my hobby, my family, my friends, my pets and in my home. Overall, I feel wonderful and loads more refreshed...just to reiterate. I think I should have a vacation at least twice a year. Ya'll let Tomato in on that.

So yesterday and Friday I got the opportunity to get back into the photography thing. I've really started to understanding manual settings, what things mean, how to use it, and my camera in general. My camera and I have really gotten to know each other as of late. It's amazing what you can learn when you just sit down for 10 minutes with your camera and actually learn the world it can show you. Every snap of the shutter can mean something completely different when you're having fun. I've had some grade A models these past two days.

This is Will. He is incredibly cute. It was also fun bargaining with this guy for pictures. It was along the lines of "If you let me take this picture we'll have a slide race!" He was all about that.

This next picture may not be photographic genius, however, I was pretty stoked about that pretty golden light that allowed for the gorgeous NATURAL backlighting that happened here. My amateur photographer giddiness was jumping for joy.

This is Kirsten. I went to high school with her once upon a time. She is better known as "the cutest girl in the world." Also, Kirsten said she liked my writing..which is essentially talking dirty to me. We had tons of fun.

Then of course, there was my most used human model and willing/not so willing nephew. I felt like I had a complete cardio workout after my time with him, but he's always worth it. While this may have not been our best shoot together, we'll have plenty more. He's my goob and I love him to itsy bitsy pieces.

Anyway, that's that.

TOMATO, THE HUBS.
We went to Moncks Corner this morning to see his family. It's always nice to catch up and see what's going on. I know he misses them terribly and I can see it in the way he hugs everyone back home. I think it made him happy to be there even for just a little while.

We got a lot accomplished around the house this weekend. We got halfway through laying the rest of the sod in the backyard and we hung peg board in the garage and organized. I love organization. I mean, I really love organization. Perhaps if the nursing thing doesn't work out, I could look into organizing things full time.

So manly, right?

As always, every time he leaves for the weekend it gets harder. I gets harder almost tenfold. I keep having to remind myself that this is all worth it. We will make it through, we have it in us to do this successfully. I cannot stress enough how much I love my husband. He is literally one of the best men on the planet, ask my mother...she'll tell you.

ZERO, THE DRAGON.
Has finally got his frisbees back full time, and oh what a time it is. This dog would literally kill himself with frisbee if he could.

ALPHA, THE DOODLE.
Well, we went to vet today and he got more shots. I think next month is the end of all that for awhile and I don't think he could be any happier about it. He literally tries to eat the Vet when she sticks him. He did calm down while I was touching him. I felt so bad for the little guy. He weighed in at a whooping 7.2lbs and is scheduled to be neutered next month as well. It's going to be a long month for him in June.

Sorry Dood.
