ASHLEY, COMMANDING OFFICER.
...is alone. Well, not really I guess...Becca is here with a brood of people. However, I'm missing a large part of my life. Tomato left yesterday for how many ever months. I was strong until the very end though, I'll give myself that. I was all smiles until the person in charge yelled out, "Marines to the bus!" Then I had a meltdown. I sat and watched the bus leave. I think I was the only wife to do that.
He skyped me from Germany today. He's been gone less than 24 hours and still makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. It just hasn't hit me yet, I guess...really. Then again I haven't been alone yet. Becca brought the family in about an hour after Tomato left yesterday. I haven't had much time to sit and think about it all. I guess that's good, so far.
I go back to work on Wednesday. I'm kind of looking forward to it, but kind of not. I can't believe that I was supposed to be sailing the Caribbean this week, but instead was packing up my husband for Afghanistan. It's a different life than most, but it's my life...and I have no choice but to embrace it right now. I can just look forward to making care packages and sending letters, waiting on phone calls and chatting on skype. It'll be a flash, right?
I took some pictures yesterday of my brother and his girlfriend. Some turned out really nice. Here's a few shots.
...and then, there was Jonathan.
They've all been introduced to the wonders of Jacksonville. Big Whoop. I'm terribly excited to leave the area. I cannot wait to be in Lexington again. That's the one good thing about this deployment, going home. Going to Disney World and all the other goals I hope to accomplish before Christmas. :)
Just keep thinking and praying for us. This is a new experience for everyone involved.
TOMATO, THE HUBS.
...was in Germany today. He was about 5 hours ahead of us time wise. It's so strange. I got to see him on Skype for about 0.5 seconds, but it was glorious. When he called my cell phone I was super surprised. I love the joys of modern technology. He sounded tired. I don't blame him though, sitting straight up for hours and hours would tire me out as well.
ZERO, THE DRAGON.
...definitely knew what was up. He said bye like a champ though. Now he's just chasing Jefferey (Becca's dog) around the house and being dragonly.
Anyway, I'm off to play Apples to Apples. :) Phone interview with Lexington Medical Center tomorrow for an ER position. Wish me luck.
