Well I'm in Columbia. Went and bought Sarah's baby shower gift and then spent some time with the Cooper's. I haven't seen them in ages. I took them out to eat at Longhorn. They are a very strong family, I'm not even sure they realize how far they've come in such a short time. I admire their resilience. Unfortunately it's not my business to discuss the particulars so you'll just have to trust me on this one.
I am mentally exhausted. I drove 5 hours to Columbia today, just now winding down. Tomorrow I can sleep in, then I have to be at the McClanahan's at 2 pm to help set up Sarah's shower. Shower ends at 5, then I have to drive 5 hours back home. Tomato has surgery Monday at 0600, then I'll be waiting and taking care of him. His father is in town. Tuesday I have to go to traffic court on base because of something incredibly stupid, then back home to take care of Tomato. Then, of course, work the next day at 0700. Just thinking about it is clouding my mind. Wish me luck with that.
The best part of driving 5 hours home? Listening to music. I love the solitude, the time with myself. Long trips by myself are very productive. I pretty much sort out all my life problems. The great thing about this trip though, was that I didn't have much to sort out. Tomato has helped to make my life so simple. I realize every day just how special he is.
I wish he were here with me, home isn't home without him.
